Where Signals Become Stories.

Who We Are

The Morehead Amateur Radio Society (MARS) is made up of people from right here in our community, and from across Eastern Kentucky, who share an interest in amateur radio. Our members come from all kinds of backgrounds, including first responders, educators, farmers, engineers, and more.

You don’t need to be a licensed ham radio operator to attend a meeting or join. If you’re curious about the hobby and want to learn, you’re welcome here.

Our Services

Helping new ham radio operators get started and stay connected.

Meetings

Monthly meetings and testing sessions are held at Farmers Fire Station #2 the first Tuesday of each month at 6 P.M. Our monthly meetings typically include a presentation on a variety of topics

Education & Support

Have questions? We've got the answers. Everything from how to get started to learning morse code. Our members have diverse interests, and are more than willing to help get you the answers you need!

Our members participate in contesting throughout the year. Contesting is a timed competition where operators try to make as many contacts as possible under specific rules. It’s a fun way to sharpen operating skills, test equipment, and represent your club on the air.
